Here at Mittera, we like stories. It’s kind of our thing. Over the next few weeks, our blog will feature different members of our team telling their story and sharing their professional journey. This week’s story comes from Courtney Passon, a member of our sales team at our Beaver Dam, WI location.
As a recent graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Stout, I was unsure of what to expect from my first job. I felt confident that my academic studies had provided me with the skills I needed, but I was still a little uncertain.
I graduated from UW-Stout with a degree in Professional Communication and Emerging Media along with a field of study in Cross-Media Graphics. I know what many of you may be thinking… what the heck does that mean? I like to explain it as a little bit of everything. My degree has allowed me to be proficient in understanding writing styles, communication approaches, design elements, print production, photography, website design, user experience, social media styles, and marketing efforts.
With such a wide-ranging degree, I thought it may be difficult to incorporate all aspects of my education into one career opportunity—until I found Mittera Group.
In my job seeking efforts, I attended the UW-Stout Career Fair last spring. This fair consisted of various companies seeking soon to be graduates. As I made my way through the fair, I made eye contact with two friendly faces. They were standing beneath a banner that stated, “Color Your World”. Intrigued by the signage and friendly atmosphere, I wondered what this colorful company had to offer. I quickly learned that Mittera was so much more than your average print company. With multiple locations, Mittera is a full-service communication company that offers print, digital, and creative solutions. Basically, your one-stop shop in providing effective communication strategies and products. Mittera’s wide-range of services such as print, data analytics, digital marketing, design, photography, and videography reminded me of my own wide-ranging degree. I felt that this company would be the perfect parallel to my education.
I began working for Mittera as a Sales Representative the beginning of June, putting my training and experience to the test. Since then, I’ve been growing the skills I learned in college. I love the challenge as I connect with potential customers to explain why Mittera is the perfect partner in providing any communication service needed.
